FACTORY INTERNATIONAL – THE WORLD’S MOST ANTICIPATED NEW STAGE

As Time Out magazine lists Factory International as one of the top 23 best things to do in the WORLD, and Lonely Planet highlighting Manchester as a must visit in 2023, aren’t we lucky that it’s just on the doorstep!

Factory International comes in at number 9 in the Time Out list of 23 top attractions which include Iceland’s hot springs, film festivals in Buenos Aires, walking with bears in Vancouver and visiting the world’s largest anime store in Tokyo.

Designed by the world-leading Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), Factory International is due to open in June this year with a mind-blowing list of arts, music, and cultural showcases.  The £210 million global destination will also stage the city-wide Manchester International Festival (MIF) every other year.

Factory Academy connects with our community through plans to become a major training centre for local people, helping to build the technicians, producers and other creative talent that will bring the future alive. Its pioneering programmes of engagement and artist development will benefit local people and the next generation of creators.

The development of Factory International is led by Manchester City Council, with backing from HM Government and Arts Council England. It is said to be the largest investment in a national cultural project since the opening of the Tate Modern in 2000, representing yet another Coup for Manchester.  More sentimentally, it represents the resurrection of Manchester’s pioneering record label, The Factory and our new Joy Division…Hacienda…anyone?
